Webbför 2 dagar sedan · EarthSky friend Sharon Kizer shared this photo of the seaweed – known as sargassum – on Palm Beach Island in Florida on April 5, 2024. You can see more sargassum washing up on the waves. While teaweed is an issue for agricultural production, causing reduced yields, researchers have been exploring its benefits as a wildlife food source. Species benefiting include quail, turkey, and white-tail deer, with protein levels around 16%.
